Worldchampion snoring

Whilst walking through the village of Epernay, we where warned of some bad weather to come. We had heard that it rained quite a bit in the champagne area, had seen rain from the start of the expedition anyway so were not surprised. In the middle of the night we were awakened by a loud thunder. Lightning had struck only a few hundred meters away and a thunder rolled through the valley. Definitely time to move from the top bunks to the lower ones. Some heavy rain plunged down on us and lightning kept striking the area. It was difficult to fall asleep again but when the thunderstorm passed we did.

It was still raining when we left. We decided to head south in search for some sunshine. But the weather gods are not on our side. We arrived in Beaune, some 25 kilometers south of Dijon in the afternoon. Beaune, the heart of the wine making area is a beautiful city. We were meeting friends here from Holland who wanted to see how we survived and as they said, check if we were using all the “presents” they had given us. It gave us the opportunity to receive the things we had forgotten when we left, like sweaters and so.

In the eve we went to a local restaurant for a nice dinner and to taste lovely wines of the area…

Hoping to get a good night of rest we headed to the campsite. But our neighbour had different plans. He was training for the world championship snorring and we bet he made a good chance! All night he kept us and all of the other not so happy campers awake with a bombardment of snoring.
